Archery is FUN as an individual sport or part of a team
Here are some pictures of an Archery Tournament held in Mansfield Ma. 8/2008
NAA is the National Organization behind the US Olympic TEAM
New England Outdoor Application
RIFAA
Rhode Island Field Archery Association) The RI FAA
is a member of the National FAA.
There are two aspects of (NFAA) Field archery
1) Indoor 2) outdoor
1) Indoor shooting is shooting 60 arrows at a target 60 feet
(20 yards) away
2) Outdoor shooting is shooting at targets place at distances
10 yrds to 80 yrds. Its like GOLF for arrows.
Archery styles and equipment (cost)
Most difficult (least cost) Traditional simple wood bow/ARROW no sights
Difficult (low cost - very high cost) Recurve
Recurve a basic recurve bow with a sight.
The arrows are Aluminum -carbon or a combination
of the two. Look on ebay "Recurve" for cost.
Olympic Recurve (can get very expensive)
Compound bow styles.
Compound bows make archery very easy
Using mechanics and pullies the holding weight
of an average modern bow is 80% less of the bows
actual weight. You can shoot a Compound bow with
fingers or a trigger device called a "release aid"
Using your fingers is easy due to the 80% let off
the archer string holding weight on the fingers is only
about 10 to 15 lbs. Unlike a Traditional or recurve
where the archer is holding 20 to 80 lbs.
Using a release aid is by far the easiest form of archery
Using a trigger and hook to release the string removes
any mistakes or inconsistencies involved with shooting
with fingers. So long as an archer can hold still and has a
steady release the scores are higher than most other styles.
As far as cost compound bows, sights, release aids, etc
cost vary again check eBay under "compound"
